Measure 1: Completer Impact and Effectiveness
Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) administers the Nebraska First Year Teacher Survey and Third Year Survey both to the principals and to the first year teachers or 3rd teachers (Spring 2025). Evaluation indicators are based on Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Model Core Teaching Standards, 2011.
First Year Teacher (FYT) Response Rates:
Doane University by principals is 65.12% and First year teacher survey by teachers is 44.19%.
Statewide FYT survey by principals is 67.00% and First year teacher survey by teachers is 47.36%.
1st Year Teacher - Doane (2024-2025 School Year):
First year teachers employed in the 2024-2025 school year are May 2024 graduate completers at the initial undergraduate level and completers in the Initial Certification at the Advanced Level during the 2023-2024 school year.
Third Year Teacher Response Rates:
Doane University 3rd year teacher survey by principals is 73.68% and 3rd year teacher survey by teachers is 68.42%.
Statewide 3rd year teacher survey by principals is 67.41% and 3rd year teacher survey by teachers is 42.93%.

Third year teachers employed in the 2024-2025 school year are May 2022 graduate completers at the initial undergraduate level and completers in the Initial Certification at the Advanced Level during the 2021-2022 school year.

The results of the Doane first-year teacher survey ratings reflect 100% of them were confident that they were all prepared to be an effective first-year teacher. Overall, responses reflect highly positive information from both principals and teachers.

Summary of 3rd Year Teacher Survey (2024-2025 School Year): The above chart reflects principals’ responses to the question, “Would your consider this teacher effectively prepared for continuing employment in your district?”, 100% responded “Yes” that Doane teachers are prepared. The results of the Doane first-year teacher survey ratings reflect 92.3% (12 out of 13) of them were confident that they were all prepared to be an effective first-year teacher. One teacher respondent reflects the 7.7% "no" rating. Overall responses reflect highly positive information for both principals and teachers, indicating the majority of the teachers are prepared.

SUMMARY for 1st Year Teacher Survey (2024-2025 School Year): Principals were asked to evaluate Doane's first-year teachers’ impact on student learning. 25% (7 of 28) of all principals thought the teachers were highly effective. However, 57.1%% (16 of 28) of them rated them as moderately effective. Overall, 82.1% of principals thought the teachers were moderately effective or highly effective. The first-year teachers were asked to give a self-evaluation on student learning. Only, 31.5% of all Doane's first-year teachers considered their impact as highly effective. While, 68.4% of them rated themselves as moderately effective teachers. Overall, 100% of Doane's first-year teachers rated themselves as either moderately effective or highly effective.

SUMMARY for 3rd Year Survey (2024-2025 School Year): Principals were asked to evaluate third-year teachers’ impact on student learning. 53.8% of all principals thought the Doane teachers were highly effective, and 38.5% of them rated them as moderately effective. The first-year teachers were asked to give a self-evaluation on student learning. 54.3% of all third-year teachers considered their impact as moderately effective, and 41.7% of them rated themselves as highly effective teachers. Overall, principals rated Doane candidates 92.3% on impact on student learning as moderately to highly effective. While, third-year teachers rated themselves 96% moderately to highly effective on impact of student learning.
