Nebraska Psychological Society Undergraduate Fall Conference

General Information

The Nebraska Psychological Society (NPS) undergraduate fall conference will take place at Doane University in Crete, NE on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Jerome Lewis is an Associate Professor in Psychology at Bellevue University. His research focuses on the victim role and the psychology of morality. Dr. Lewis has a keen interest in service and the teaching of psychology. In 2022, he received BU’s Excellence in Service Award. In 2023, he became an APA PsycLearn Faculty Advocate. 

Counterfeit Victims: People’s Reactions to Illegitimate Victim Role Claims

Victim status is a well-defined social role within society. Deserving victims receive numerous social goods ranging from social support to financial support. However, unqualified claims to the victim role can lead to severe social consequences. This talk will describe the ideal victim and how people respond to failures to achieve this status.

Doane’s Crete campus address is 1014 Boswell Ave, Crete NE. The conference will be held in the Lied Science and Mathematics building (building 13 on the campus map).

The luncheon and the keynote address will be held in the Perry Memorial Campus Center (building 10 on the campus map).

Parking for NPS conference participants is available in lots F or J (as indicated on the campus map).

Registration

Please submit your registration and payment below. Registration fee is $30 if registration is submitted by Thursday, November 2. For those registering after November 2, late registration fee is $35. 

Online payment can be made through the PayPal link below.

If paying by check, please provide payment when you arrive at the conference. Checks should be made payable to Doane University. 

Note: The deadline for project submissions is Friday, October 27.
