Accounting - Public
The Accounting - Public program meets the educational requirements to apply for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam with the exception of completion of 150 credits. Academic advisors at Doane work closely with students who are considering certification options. Students should contact their advisors immediately to ensure their course of study fulfills all requirements for their state of residence.
Internship Credits: Students majoring in Accounting who plan to take the CPA exam are required to earn 3 credit hours for internship experience or take BUS 496. Because internships are a valued part of the Accounting degree and help meet the 150-hour requirement to sit for the Uniform CPA Exam, accounting majors often take additional internship credits.

Educator Preparation Programs
All degree or endorsement programs offered by Doane University that prepare students for educator certification are designed to prepare students to meet the standards set by the Nebraska Department of Education. Beyond the educational requirements, there are additional requirements to apply for certification. Students should consult the catalog and contact the College of Education for more information.
Students in locations with the status "HAS NOT DETERMINED" should consult the US Department of Education to verify the requirements for their location.
All students located outside of the MEETS states intending to pursue the Master of Education in School Counseling or graduate endorsements in Early Childhood, ESL, Reading Specialist, Reading, and Writing must complete an attestation that they plan to seek employment in a MEETS state upon completion of the program.

Students wishing to enroll in an online education preparation program from any state or territory outside of those listed in the MEETS section must sign a written attestation that they plan to relocate to a MEETS state prior to enrollment to seek employment upon completing the program.
Master of Arts in Counseling
The Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program is designed to fulfill the educational preparation component of the Nebraska Health and Human Services Licensure Division regulations for credentialing as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner with specialty certification as a Certified Professional Counselor. Upon completion of the program, the student will have met all educational and clinical experience requirements for licensure as a Provisional Licensed Mental Health Practitioner in the state of Nebraska. Students also need to meet additional non-academic requirements.
The MAC program is also designed to fulfill the educational requirements set by the National Board for Certified Counselors(NBCC) for certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) Students also need to meet additional non-academic requirements.
MAC coursework also currently satisfies the educational requirements for licensure by the state of Nebraska as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). All individuals wishing to pursue the LADC should consult the HHS Web site for licensure information at: http://dhhs.ne.gov and go to the Credentialing Division for details.

Substance Use Counseling
Course work includes all of the educational requirements to apply to the state of Nebraska for Provisional Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (PLADC) and to apply for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). All individuals wishing to be Alcohol and Drug Counselors should consult the HHS Web site for licensure information at: http://dhhs.ne.gov and go to the Credentialing Division for details.
Students interested in becoming Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors in the State of Nebraska must first prepare and apply for a Provisional Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (PLADC). To apply for the P-LADC with the use of grant money, complete the UNMC application here.
