TRIO Program

TRIO Student Support Services empowers students who are first-generation, have limited financial resources, or have a disability, by providing individualized academic resources, transformative experiences, and skill development to create equitable educational opportunities for students to thrive at Doane.

Students qualify for Student Support Services if they meet one or more of the eligibility requirements and have an academic need. This program is funded to serve a limited number of students. Although applications are processed immediately, students may be placed on a waiting list.

Eligibility Requirements

First-generation:

Neither parent nor guardian(s) has earned a four-year college degree.

Income eligible:

Student must meet federal income guidelines according to Federal TRIO Programs Current Low-Income Levels.

A student with a disability:

Can document a disability that significantly interferes with academic performance (Click here for Disability Services).

 

Doane Persistence Grant

Support for first generation or Pell eligible students with one-time, unexpected expenses. 

A limited amount of funds are available, and a student can receive a maximum of $500.  Examples of items that could be funded include:

* Help to pay for college-related or living expenses following a sudden loss of income

* Unexpected medical expense

* Assist with travel costs if you need to go home due to family emergency
