Library Resources and Services for Adjunct Faculty

We are committed to providing full library services to students and faculty, no matter where they are or how they teach or take classes. If you can't come to the library, the library will come to you.

Borrowing Physical Books and Other Items

Search for books, DVDs and more using the Doane Library Catalog.

Can’t make it to the library in Crete? Delivery of Perkins Library-owned books to the Doane-Lincoln campus (Fred Brown room 113) for those in the Lincoln area is available. Physical items will be sent via US Mail to Nebraska locations outside of Lincoln. The recipient will be responsible for mailing the items back to the Crete campus. Request delivery of physical items or scans of articles using our Interlibrary Loan form.

Didn’t find what you need in our catalog? Use Interlibrary Loan to borrow items you need from other libraries for free! Looking for journal articles? Most of the library databases have an Interlibrary Loan link in the search results. We also have a form you may fill out to place a request.

Live near another Nebraska college or university? Faculty located in Nebraska may get a card at a local college or university library to borrow materials through the reciprocal borrowing program. If you don’t have a Doane ID contact ([email protected]) for a letter verifying your affiliation with Doane. The letter along with your state issued ID will need to be presented for a library card.

Accessing Online Databases and Journals

Databases: The best way to access our databases is through our A-Z database list. You may search by database title, view databases by subject, or quickly access popular databases.

Journals: If you want to check availability of a particular journal title or browse available journals we have a Journals A-Z list. Search or browse by title, collection, search for a citation, or even search for an ebook.

Research Assistance

The library offers research consultations for you and your students. We provide reference services through e-mail, phone, and Zoom by appointment. You may also include a link to our student-centered Research Basics Guide in your syllabus or course shell.

Course Assistance

Librarians are available to offer library instruction sessions (teaching your students how to use library resources) via various delivery options, including through Zoom and visits to Lincoln and Omaha locations. For more information, please contact [email protected].

We can create course-specific library guides and connect students to course specific resources. Here is a guide from a Japanese Cultures course as an example.

Librarians can serve as an embedded librarian in courses using Blackboard where we can answer research questions and upload resources.

We are able to assist you in locating freely available and licensed materials for use in your courses. These materials can serve as course readings, textbook replacements, or instructional materials and range from journal articles to ebooks and streaming video.
