Through lecture and lab experience, students will be exposed to and will demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts in chemistry such as nomenclature, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, the periodic table, electronic structure, bonding, and gas laws.

Note: For successful completion of this online chemistry course, it is recommended students have 2 years of high school algebra or any 100-level math course.

This course requires the purchase of a state-of-the art lab kit through Doane University's lab equipment partner. The lab purchase will be completed through Canvas in the introductory module. The lab kit will provide the student an equivalent and accessible lab experience off-campus with both virtual and hands-on labs. To successfully complete the lab portion of the course, a lab kit is required.
