Alternative Breaks

Through Doane University Alternative Breaks, students have the opportunity to develop into lifelong active citizens in local, national and global communities through diverse, direct-service experiences dedicated to social justice. Breaks occur over academic fall and spring breaks as well as National Days of Service. Alternative Break groups partner with nonprofit organizations working to combat a specific UN Sustainable Development Goal in their local area.

Alternative Weeklong Breaks

Alternative Weekelong Breaks (AWB) occur during Fall and Spring Break for students to volunteer at nonprofits across the country. Students will engage in the experience as a Conscientious Citizen, concerned with discovering root causes of social issues and committed to becoming Active Citizens who create positive change.

Alternative Day Breaks

Alternative Day Breaks (ADB) occur during National Days of Service for students to volunteer at nonprofits across the State of Nebraska. During this experience students will learn about local needs and ways to get involved more regularly.
