Olivia Nelson ’27 (Fremont, NE)

School Activities: I am going to be a junior, am a music major with a general emphasis, and am involved in Doane Choir, Doane Concert Band (Social Media & Marketing Chair), Chi Delta Sorority (Vice President,) Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, Ambassadors, and the Catholic Newman Club.
Future Plans: I'm getting married next spring, and after graduation, I’m excited to settle into married life and start building a life with my husband. In the next five to ten years, I hope to be teaching private voice or brass lessons, exploring gardening and homesteading, and hopefully raising a family!
Interesting Fact: I have a group of freckles on my elbow that look like a smiley face. I used to be a vegetarian (for 4 years!) but now steak is my favorite food.
Pets: I have two dogs, Chip (a chocolate lab) and Moo (a very cute mutt).
Favorite Season (and why): My favorite season is Fall! I love everything about it, pumpkin patches, cozy sweaters, fall fashion, cooler weather, changing leaves, and curling up with a cozy movie!
How I Spend My Free Time: In my free time I love crocheting, reading, traveling, outdoors walks, and spending time with my fiancé.
What does connecting with alumni mean to you?: To me, connecting with alumni means learning from the people who helped shape Doane into what it is today. I love hearing their stories, finding out what Doane was like when they were students, and getting to share what it looks like now.
Tiger Tidbit: I chose Doane because I immediately felt at home. Even as a prospective student, the faculty and staff made me feel like I truly belonged. Meeting Dr. Runestad and Dr. Gilbert in the music department especially made a lasting impression. Their warmth and passion confirmed that this was where I was meant to be. I’ve grown so much here, and I’m grateful every day that I chose Doane.
What are you looking forward to while being a Tiger on Tour (TOT)?I’m really looking forward to building connections with alumni I might not otherwise get the chance to meet. I’m also excited to work alongside the rest of the amazing alumni staff!
