Doug Heller ’85 (PRESIDENT for FY23) Second term ends June 2024 Why I Chose Doane: I liked the small atmosphere, as my high school senior class was almost 400 people and the high school had over 1,500 students total. Plus, Doane was willing to provide financial aid and made the cost very comparable or less than UNL (which offered up no financial aid). I felt very welcome in my weekend visitations and it just felt right! |

Lucas Fahrer ’11 (SECRETARY for FY23) First term, shared with wife Amanda Bouc Fahrer ’11) ends June 2024 Why I Chose Doane: My campus visit sealed the deal. I was already excited about the chance to play baseball and study journalism, but once I finished my tour, I knew Doane would feel like home. Everyone was so welcoming, and meeting with faculty and coaches painted a clear picture of how great life would be on campus. |

Anna Flores '19 (MEMBER-AT-LARGE for FY23) Second term ends June 2025 Why I Chose Doane: I still remember walking on campus during my visit and being impressed with the beautiful campus and the wonderful people who greeted us throughout the day; from students to professors to staff, everyone was so warm, inviting and truly made me feel like I fit in from Day one. After meeting with David Swartzlander, the Associate Professor of Practice Journalism my mind was made up. As a student I could not have imagined a better advisor, professor or mentor. Without him I wouldn't be where I am or who I am today. I also loved the smaller community Doane offered as I was able to participate in a plethora of activities and gained a ton of experience in the Journalism department. Doane offers the best from the classes, community, college to career center and more; they truly shape you as a student and as a person ready for the world |

Allyson Horne '97 Second term ends June 2024 Why I Chose Doane: I was so fortunate to have the Doane family support me through my college experience. Numerous professors, faculty, and staff encouraged me through difficult times, saw me for my best, and helped me see what was possible for my future. The education experience at Doane confirmed my belief in ripple effects: when people choose to see a student for their strengths and potential, amazing things happen. I am grateful that I chose Doane then, and even more grateful to be part of this learning community now. |

Heather Ryan Beekman ’97, ’10E First term ends June 2025 Why I Chose Doane: I chose Doane because it felt like home. I came from a graduating class of 13 and did not want the large lecture hall-type college experience. I wanted to get to know my peers and feel like I knew my professors. I am still in touch with many great people from my undergrad experience and am so grateful for these lasting connections. |
