Zoology is the study of animals including their taxonomy, anatomy, and behavior. Students will study population, community, and ecosystem interactions. Students will consider how animals survive across the globe, compete, and reproduce. Students will examine how animals move energy and matter through the ecosystem. Students will explore how animals have been genetically engineered through domestication and later through direct gene manipulation to serve in animal agriculture and as pets. 

Note: For successful completion of this zoology online course, it is recommended that students have completed Biology I and Genetics or their equivalents.

This course requires the purchase of a state-of-the art lab kit through Doane University's lab equipment partner. The lab purchase will be completed through Canvas in the introductory module. The lab kit will provide the student an equivalent and accessible lab experience off-campus with both virtual and hands-on labs. To successfully complete the lab portion of the course, a lab kit is required.
