Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes at work in the context of living organisms. Students successfully completing this online Biochemistry course will demonstrate an understanding of the molecular structure and function of biomolecules, as well as chemical transformation, energetics, and basic regulation of central metabolic pathways. In the lab, students will gain experience with common methodologies for investigating proteins.

Note: For successful completion of this online Biochemistry course, it is recommended that students are familiar with General Chemistry I, II, and Organic Chemistry I, or their equivalents.

This course requires the purchase of a state-of-the art lab kit through Doane University's lab equipment partner. The lab purchase will be completed through Canvas in the introductory module. The lab kit will provide the student an equivalent and accessible lab experience off-campus with both virtual and hands-on labs. To successfully complete the lab portion of the course, a lab kit is required.
