Description
The Norden Club of Lincoln Foundation supports individuals who wish to enhance their learning and exploration of Scandinavian culture, heritage, or related studies. The award may be used for academic pursuits, international studies, artistic endeavors, or linguistic projects that foster an appreciation for Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). Applicants must submit a detailed proposal (a 250–300 word letter) describing how their proposed project or course of study will support the Foundation’s mission.
Eligibility
Applicants must reside within a 100-mile radius of Lincoln, NE. The award is open to individuals of all ages—from youth to adult. For college or university scholarship applicants, a transcript showing courses taken and grades obtained is required.
Renewability & Repayment
The award is a one-time grant and is not renewable, and no repayment is required.
Scholarship Process
Applicants must complete the application form and submit it along with:
– A detailed, itemized budget (if requesting funds).
– A 250–300 word letter explaining the proposed course of Scandinavian-related study or activity and how it meets the Foundation’s goals.
Scholarship applicants are required to have their academic transcript sent directly by their educational institution if applicable.
Completed applications must be mailed or emailed to the Norden Club of Lincoln Foundation by May 1, 2025
The chosen recipient will be notified by phone and is expected to attend one of the Foundation’s dinner meetings to present a short program about their experience.
