This communication serves as guidance to supervisors of student workers who remain enrolled for the spring semester. With the modifications to university operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Doane has implemented the following policy regarding currently employed student workers.
Students who are willing and able may continue to work if they have chosen to remain in the local area and there is appropriate work available. They may also work remotely if there is work they could do through such a modality. If a student continues to work on campus, they should clock in and out as usual. Students working remotely can clock in using VPN or email their supervisor to enter their hours on Kronos.
Students working remotely and that have access to employee and student personally identifiable information must be logged into Doane’s VPN. Click this link for details https://connect.doane.edu. The portal address once installed is connect.doane.edu. Reminder, it only works to install the VPN when you are NOT connected to Doane’s internet.
The Office of Finance and Administration, Human Resources and the Financial Aid Office are investigating the possibility of other support for students who may not be able to continue their regular work schedule, for whatever reason. Once we have reviewed recently issued federal guidance we will send out more information regarding this.
We are asking that you hold on making any future job offers to students at this time, until we are able to better assess our plan for the future. You may continue to post student jobs and conduct interviews via Zoom or phone. If you have questions about student job postings, please contact Josh at [email protected].
