About
I am currently the Dean of the College of Education at Doane University.
I have a passion for teaching and using technology to help support inclusive learning environments. Including challenging my students to make learning accessible to all students by incorporating principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into their instruction. It's a pleasure to teach and learn at Doane!
I am also the Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Doane. In this capacity I work to support faculty and students working with human participants in their research studies.
Prior to coming to join the Doane faculty, I served as a faculty member at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS from 2005-2013 earning tenure and the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs.
I received my Ph.D. in 2005 from Indiana University in Bloomington in Special Education, with areas of emphasis in Teacher Education, Instructional Systems Technology, and Mild/Moderate Disabilities. I am also a proud Doane alumnus with my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2000 and my B.A. in Special Education in 1997. I have held teaching licenses in Nebraska, Indiana, and Kansas in special education.
I enjoy music and theater as well. I have an amazing wife and three fantastic daughters who have helped support me and make me the teacher, scholar, friend, and father that I am.
