About Dr. Changizi
Dr. Changizi joined the Department of Engineering and Physics at Doane University in the fall of 2025. Prior to Doane, he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he taught courses in mechanics of materials.
He previously completed postdoctoral research at the University of Connecticut and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he applied advanced optimization methods to structural engineering design and interdisciplinary projects, including plate heat exchanger design and mathematical modeling of cancer.
At Doane, Dr. Changizi teaches courses in mechanics, structural analysis, structural design, etc. His teaching emphasizes interactive learning and the practical application of engineering concepts, with the goal of equipping students with the skills and problem-solving mindset needed for professional success.
