Teaching

Dr. Blake Colclasure is passionate about teaching and learning in the agricultural and environmental sciences. He uses a student-centered approach to teaching and incorporates inquiry-based instruction, problem-based learning, and real-world learning experiences in the classroom. Blake has teaching experience at diverse levels, including leading high school and community college agricultural programs. Blake has delivered teacher professional development on teaching methods in agricultural and environmental sciences to practicing secondary and post-secondary teachers, and received a graduate student teaching award from the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture. Research

Blake's research focuses on the intersection of environmental science, agriculture, and human dimensions. He believes that in order to solve the complex global challenges of the 21st century, we must understand the critical role that people play in both the problem and the solution. Blake enjoys working with students on research projects and employs quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method research methodologies. Blake believes that interdisciplinary research teams that transcend the social and natural sciences are best suited to solve the wicked agricultural and environmental problems facing our society.
