Health Sciences

The goal of Health Sciences is to provide students with a consistent and holistic approach in advanced studies in graduate/professional health programs and careers in health professions.

In Doane's Health Sciences programs, you will:

  • Utilize career planning through pre-health advising (The Pre-Health Advantage).
  • Work with the Academic Success Center, College to Career CenterAlumni Office, and more to create opportunities for success.
  • Gain preparation for graduate schools and health careers beyond just the academic.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the healthcare system, its structure, and vocabulary.

The healthcare system is complex. Health Sciences is geared towards helping students prepare for further education and professional life.

The Pre-Health Advantage Advising Program

Health Sciences facilitates Doane's Pre-Health Advantage, an advising program to help you get ahead in your healthcare studies. The Pre-Health Advantage pairs you with a professional advisor and healthcare faculty mentor. They help you navigate the undergraduate curriculum, build your application profile, and direct you to application and testing resources available to you on campus and online!

Melissa Clouse is our dedicated director of Pre-Health Advantage, and Doane has healthcare faculty and staff ready to help you on your path to professional school. This program provides access to pre-professional development opportunities for new and current students in a variety of ways:

  • Mentoring
  • Job Shadowing
  • Internships
  • Peer Collaboration
  • Faculty/Alumni Advice
  • Networking

Preparing the Whole Student

Our courses prepare healthcare students for advanced degree programs through one-on-one advising, student organizations, and experiential learning. Health Sciences provides students with the resources and information they need to explore their health professional interests. Students will understand admission requirements, application materials, and application timelines for graduate and professional programs. You won't miss a beat.
